Volunteer with NNS!

Our volunteers make a significant impact on our ability to achieve our mission. We rely on volunteers to keep our vegetables moving, connect with the community through fun interactions like swapping recipes with families, and get their hands dirty with our farmers.

Interested in becoming a volunteer? We’re looking for individuals to help with the pickup and delivery of vegetables and assist at our mobile markets and much more. Click the β€œRegister as a Volunteer” link below to fill out our Volunteer Inquiry Form and our volunteer coordinator will reach out with current opportunities.

Are you already registered and returning to volunteer? Click the β€œReturning Volunteers” link below (check your most recent Volunteer newsletter for the password) to find all the links you’ll need regarding upcoming opportunities, updating your volunteer profile, or signing a seasonal waiver.

Seasonal Opportunities

NNS welcomes volunteers to participate in activities throughout the year, but primarily April through November. Each activity is unique and has varied requirements. After you register you’ll be able to sign up for activities that suit your interests and abilities, and we’ll even help you find the best fit!

Farms

For volunteers who would like an active shift, opportunities include spring greenhouse work, gleaning at local farms, washing and packing produce, washing produce bins and other activities that arise throughout the season.

Markets

Volunteers help with the set up and break down of our VEGOUT Markets at various pantry and COA locations. They arrange and replenish the produce, and interact with and help the guests, typically from June through October. All of the produce we offer comes from local farms.

Pickups & Delivery

We have both occasional and weekly scheduled produce pickups and deliveries. Depending on the size of the pick-up it may be possible to use your personal vehicle. Alternatively, a volunteer can become van-certified if that volunteer has frequent shifts.

"This is an amazing program that provides everyone with the opportunity to have herbs, flowers, and fresh veggies – fresh, organic food that would otherwise be too expensive for them. I love that I can help make sure everyone access the food they deserve."

Community Events

Throughout the year we host a variety of fundraisers and community events. We are looking for volunteers to join in and help out! Many of these events are perfect activities for corporate groups, community organizations, families and/or friends who want to share the volunteer experience together.
