YEAR END APPEAL
Your year-end support will have a lasting impact
Dear Friends,
Itβs been a busy growing season at Nourishing the North Shore (NNS)! Thanks to the support of our community, dedicated staff, volunteers, and partners, weβre on track to distribute over 70,000 pounds of fresh, local produce this yearβproviding 280,000 servings to our food-insecure neighbors, a 55% increase from last year.
As we plan for 2025, weβre focused on addressing the growing need in our community, where 1 in 3 adults faces food insecurity in Essex County (Source: Greater Boston Food Bank). To sustain our growth and ensure year-round access to fresh produce, we need your help.
NNS is committed to expanding access to fresh, local produce for low-income families, individuals and older adults. By sourcing highly nutritious produce from local farms and distributing it through our network of hunger relief organizations, we provide a lifeline to our most vulnerable community members.
If you believe everyone deserves access to nutritious food, please consider donating to Nourishing the North Shore this holiday season. Your gift will directly support our programs and help alleviate food insecurity in our region.
Wishing you all the best this holiday season and in the year to come.

Our programs make a big difference
Take it from one of the senior residents at Heritage House in Newburyport that participates in our summer and fall Farm SHARE Program. βI cook and eat more fresh veggies with my farm share. They are wonderfully fresh, beautifully assorted, and the best program ever for me. Thank you.β We couldnβt have said it better ourselves.
We are in this together
Nourishing the North Shore couldnβt do this work alone. We rely on local hunger relief partners to make sure the fresh and nutritious produce grown by local farmers gets to the people who need it most. In our community, it isnβt always obvious who is struggling to make ends meet, but thankfully there are places for our neighbors to turn to when they are hungry. Among Friends, a meal program in Newburyport, ensures that families and seniors have reliable access to meals that include nourishing, locally grown fruits and vegetables. Bonnie Schultz, the Director of Among Friends, and her team of loyal volunteers serve an average of 350 meals every week.
βNourishing the North Shore provides salads and fresh produce for our meal program, every week and year-round. Year round is such a godsend for us, because it fills in the gaps from the monthly Greater Boston Food Bank deliveries. Nourishing ensures our guests, who are primarily seniors, low-income and homeless residents, have access to fresh food. Thank you to Nourishing for their partnership. Their continued growth has helped us to expand to serve more individuals.β
